A felt pennant is one of the few pieces of team gear that outlives a season. Jerseys wear out and water bottles get lost, but a sewn felt pennant with a team name and a year on it ends up on a bedroom wall or a clubhouse rail for a decade. That durability is why teams, clubs, and full leagues keep coming back to them.

This guide covers the four ways sports organizations use custom felt pennants: roster keepsakes for players, season and championship markers, league-wide programs across many teams, and fan merchandise. For a 15-player roster plus coaches and a few spares, you land around 25 to 30 units, which clears the 25-piece minimum cleanly.

If you want individual names rather than a single printed run, sewn-on die-cut felt applique letters or embroidery handle that well. Those methods cost more per unit than screen printing because each pennant is decorated individually, but the result reads as a genuine award rather than a giveaway.

Season and championship pennants

Championship pennants mark a specific result: a division title, a tournament win, a perfect season. These tend to be Jumbo 18″x40″ or larger so they hang in a gym, a clubhouse, or a fieldhouse. A heavier wool felt body with applique lettering suits a banner meant to stay up for years. Quantities here are usually small, often 25 to 40, because the audience is the team and the program rather than a fan base.

League-wide programs

Leagues that run many teams can standardize on one pennant template and swap the team name and color per order. A youth baseball league with 12 teams, for example, might order 25 to 30 pennants per team in each team’s colors, all built on the same Standard size and layout. Because the artwork and dies are shared, the per-unit price stays toward the lower end of our $4 to $16 range, and the visual consistency across the league looks intentional.
